One of the things you can't get away from when working for a browser vendor, unless you live in an unwired cave (which would make it difficult to work), and even if we occasionally do wonder about the accuracy, is usage statistics for your product.
I have an impression that some allow these statistics to guide their web site development, but I believe that relying overly much on such statistics when developing a web site can turn out to cause problems for the web site, not just for the web site's public image, but it could also be economically costly.
